equipment problems

because we kept getting problems with the musical gear we had two switch the song to the acoustic version, we did this because the is a hell of a lot less gear. we just need a acoustic guitar a singer and a piano.

Plans for next week

we will have definitely started next week however we may be able to start this saturday. We also plan to do the shoot a few times so we can experiment with lighting/ angles, after the first shot we will be having ago at editing that part of the music video.

Draft shoot.

For our draft shoot we will be experimenting with camera angles and we will also try to experiment with lighting, however we are doing the draft in school so we will be limited to what we can do with light. This will not be the location for our final shoot. Also we are using Will Lawton for the draft but wont be using him for the actual video, however if Danny Bradshaw then tells he cant do it Will Lawton will be filling in for him. They are both multitalented musicians i just think Danny is that bit suited to the song.

mise en scene

For location we will be starting out with central park studios. We have chosen this because we want our video to look like its in the recording stage for the song. Costumes, the costumes will be basic such as baggie jeans and t-shirt. We have chosen this because thats the sort of clothes our audience wear. Props, the only props we need at the moment is the music gear, such as electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, amps and microphone. Lighting, we will be experimenting with lighting try out some different things such as the possibility of strobe light. With camera angles we will be trying out a lot of different to make it that bit different. We will record the same bit a few times so we can do a few different angles. For sound we will dub it, this makes it a lot easier for us because when we are recording it wont matter if the is background noise because we will be muting the actual recorded video. We don't need much sound FX, the only thing we really need is the song.

One man band

For our one man band we want to make it a bit like the way Alex Goot makes some of his video like in his cover of "livin on prayer". Alex Goot plays all the instruments in this video and he sings in it, this is the style of video we want to do. However we are thinking about doing it in black and white to give it a bit of more an effect.

Location

For locations we have a out of school practice room, this will be used for the parts with Danny playing the instruments and singing. We want to make it look like a recording room style. However for the story parts of the music video we will still have to go location hunting, we have some ideas already such as arrow parks wooded area but we need to keep looking because this video will demand more than just two locations.

After half term

The aims after half term is for us to go through what we have done so far. When we have done this Liam will then go put the video in place with what we have done, then we will get together look at the first part of the music video and see if we need to improve any areas or if we need to redo any of the recording. If so we will then have to organise another time for recording, but we will talk about this the first wednesday back when we have a progression meeting.

Aims

We aim to have finished the first part of our video for when we come back after half term, or at least have a draft of the first part of the music video. Also for me and Liam to do a meeting to check our progress with the video and see if things turned out the way we like them. If its not how we expected we might have to have a rethink and change some details of the video.

musicians

we only want one musician, but its someone who has to be multi talented musician because we want a one man band. We want to video them playing the drums, bass, guitar etc. we think it will make our video a bit different if we only have one person playing all the instruments. I have asked Danny Bradshaw to do it because he is a very talented musician, he currently plays bass in a cover band and he use to be lead guitarist and singer of his old band. I think Danny is the right person for our video.

This is our story board so far, we know we have to add to this but it gives us a clear idea on how to start our video. 

role- find actors

It is part of my role to find the actors/ musicians, when i have got the right people for the job we can start videoing it. Also when we have them it will be my role to inform them what they have to do in the video.

roles- location manager

I am the location hunter for the group. I have been around a few places to find the right location, i are going to have to try and find a few places for this video because it demands multiple locations for it. I have already found some, we think as a group the woods of arrow park would be good.

song ideas

We are thinking about 2 song, one of which is a song called "sunrise" by our last night. The other is "one less heart to break" by patent pending, both songs go well with a mixture of a band playing and a story line. This is the sort of song we want because we think it will work better.

Group Objectives

As a group we need to arrange a time that we can meet up and talk about our ideas, after we have done this we need to decide what song we are going to do for our music video. When we have picked the song we can then create a storyboard, also we will have to create a logo for our production company

group and brief

The group is me and Liam, we both decided the best brief for us to do is a music video. We decided this because we both love music and it would be the easiest for us to do working in a group, also i know a lot more musicians than i know actors and that was a big factor in us picking a music video.

With brief number one i have to find an obscure song that most people wouldn't of heard of like a bonus track on a album or a song from a small band. These videos are very different popularity wise anyway. not because they are not as good as others they just haven't had there big break for them to get big.

brief number 10
for brief number 10 its hard to find examples, because of this i will probably end up ruling this one out.

with the research i have done i am mainly leading towards doing a music video. i found it easiest to do research for.

Ideas

I am thinking about doing brief number one. This is the promotion package for an album which will include a music video. I want to do this because i listen to a lot of obscure bands that most people don't listen to, also i don't think it would be that hard to make the music video to some of the songs.

i would also want to include 

• A website homepage
• A magazine advertisement for the digipak

I am also thinking about brief number 2 which is the film trailer. The reason I am thinking about brief number 2 is because we already have experience in making a film trailer, also the are a lot of genres to select from some easier than others.

However i am also thinking about doing brief number 10 which is a short film. I am also thinking about this because i think it would be like making a film trailer but with longer scenes and the total duration will be longer.

film editing

When we were editing this clip we had to cut some of the scenes short because the were some pointless bits at the end of the scene were you could hear the camera man talking. We also had to add transitions between some of the scenes so it didn't just into the next scene every time. Also we put a backing track on under the dialogue like in the trailer, it wasn't the same music but was the most similar one we could find.

filming location, actors, props and camera angles

we were very limited with locations we could use because we had to keep it in school, we used the school car park and the school hall for the 2 big scenes, we used all round the school though. For actors we just used our group. We had to use a prop of a toy gun in two of our scenes, also we had to use a apple mac in another scene to recreate a video chat. We used a lot of camera angles and we experimented with some camera angles.

When we made our story board we talked about who is the best artist because they would be the best person to create the story board. In the end we all decided Callum was the best person to create the story board because out of the four of us he was the best artist.

first lesson

In the first lesson we had to put our selves into groups. After we had done this we had to figure out what clip we will be doing and thee roles we will play in that clip,we looked at a thew clips before we made up our minds. We had a discussion on what roles we wanted to play in  the clip and by the end of the lesson we had figured out our roles.
